More than 14,000 visitors graced the high profile Madrid Golf Show between 24th and 26th October 2008. Attendees were treated to an extensive showcase of Bobby Jones hardware and apparel with the added bonus of special appearances by two influential gurus of golf.
The Madrid Golf Trade Show has rapidly grown in stature, proving to be a popular venue for golfers and exhibitors alike. The 2008 event was the third Madrid show and proved to be greater than ever.
More than 14,000 visitors from 17 countries attended the three day show, an 11 per cent rise on the previous year, and they did not leave disappointed, with the eyes of the golfing world turning to Madrid to see more than 250 exhibitors from 15 different countries create a memorable event.
Bobby Jones took pride of place at the trade fair with club designer and master craftsman Jesse Ortiz and brand spokesman Jim Maclean being invited as guests of honour by the Spanish Golf Federation, with the representatives of Bobby Jones Europe assisting the President of the Madrid Parliament in opening the event.
Top golf instructor Jim Maclean, who has an academy in Madrid at Golf Santander, also featured heavily at the Bobby Jones booth and conducted public clinics with Jesse Ortiz in the main exhibition hall.
The combined golfing knowledge of Jesse Ortiz and Jim MacLean proved irresistible with all-comers, luring prospective students to the daily clinics to learn the intricacies of the game. The pair also hosted a dedicated professional-only conference, which was a sell out to over 150 Spanish pros eager to glean some information from two of the sport's living legends.
Lloyd Booker, Managing Director of Bobby Jones Europe, said: "The show continues to be a fantastic golfing extravaganza and it was pleasing to see the impact that Jesse and Jim had on the visitors. The occasion endorsed the high esteem in which these two golfing greats are held.
"Bobby Jones presence at the show, and working so closely with the Spanish Golf Federation is, a major coup for the company as we continue to extend our position as a pinnacle golf brand across Europe." Mr Booker continued.
